Shielding Mounted on the Target Chamber

These walls need to be stacked with lead every time they are installed/uninstalled from the hutch. They mount directly onto the Target Chamber.

Shielding Walls on Wheels

There are 4 walls in total. 3 are the same and 1 is special.

  • These may or may not be stacked with lead already.
  • If orange RP stickers are present, the lead shielding cannot be dismantled without an RSWCF.
  • They are stored in the XRT.
  • We don't always need ALL of these walls installed. It depends on the experiment configuration. This should be quantified in the Final Design Review (FDR) powerpoint slides for each planned experiment.

  • Three identical walls on wheels
    • Any of these walls can be used to the North and Southeast of the Target Chamber.
    • Materials: Each wall should have with it 4 pucks and anchoring hardware.

  • Special wall on wheels
    • It is the only one that can be anchored to the Northeast of the Target Chamber (see above). This is because it has 2 holes drilled in the yellow frame, for an extension foot for anchoring.
    • Materials: The extension foot is usually sitting with the special wall. It should also have 4 pucks and anchoring hardware. You should still rest the wall on all 4 pucks during anchoring.

Shielding Wall Mounted to Laser Table

  • This wall needs to be stacked with lead every time it is installed/uninstalled from the hutch
  • This wall has a frame that anchors to the ground, some metal extensions to anchor to the laser table, a metal frame that holds the lead bricks
  • Materials: There is a black bin in the XRT with lead bricks, hardware, and hex driver. It has a label that says:
