The 5 Light Source (5LS) directors have established the Remote Access Working Group (RAWG) to coordinate the efforts of the light sources to better enable remote experiments. The RAWG would like to invite the staff and User Committees from all light sources to participate in the 5LS Remote Experiment Forum Series. This forum series is an informal exchange between colleagues from the five DOE light sources to discuss all matters related to remote access.

Do you have ideas on how to improve remote experimentation at light sources? Maybe you test new ways to use robotics? Do you work on communications and software solutions? Are you working on how to track samples? If you are interested in discussing these topics, please join us!

These meetings will be held bi-monthly and focus on a different topic each time--the currently planned events in the series are shown below. Each forum will be hosted by one of the light sources, and will begin with a brief, informal talk – just 25 minutes – focused on examples of successes and failures, with a hope to identify some common “best practices” across the light sources. The talk will be followed by 30 minutes of open discussion to share ideas and solutions for improving everyone’s experience in this new remote world.
