Notes

  • Why is readout so slow?  It seems to take about 25% of the simulation time. This seems too large.
    • Time evolution, fitting signal, overlay of signal. Still should not be so slow.
  • Do we need the SLIC output?  This is the largest space eater.
    • It wasn’t clear if the SLIC output is used when you overlay Tritrig with wab-beam-tri.
    • If we don’t need it we save a lot of tape, and time since spinning files to tape takes a lot of time.
  • Since the bulk of our MC time is spend on creating beam background events, it would be profitable to be able to use pulser data for this. That will require some work, since this is not an easy task. The merge is after readout, before recon.
    • Need someone to do this.
  • Takashi presented EGS5 vs GEANT4 10.03.p01. With Geant4 the full energy electron scattering takes into account the recoiling nucleus, which would be difficult (if not impossible) to implement in EGS5. We could then merge the FEE and Hadron production into one step.
    • This needs to be tested. We need to do a trial run of the Geant4 setup and compare versus the old MC and data.
    • Geant4 will be 44x slower, but this is not our bottle neck step in MC production.
  • We went over the new task list. There were no comments.
    • We will get back to this list at every meeting!!!
