2. We next discussed if we should continue with HPS shifts for all of December, and how this depends on whether or not the SVT is shipped. We agreed that shifts should be continued as long as we have productive work to do. The beam line must be commissioned and FSD and beamline instrumentation checked out. See HPS Commissioning with Beams.docx These tasks likely don't require all our December running. However, if a target can be inserted, a full program of Ecal commissioning and calibrating can take place, and the trigger can be commissioned and trigger rates studied. This would be productive use of our beam time. We could also get our first indications of the impact and signatures of beam trips. We mentioned two options for installing a target. Easiest would be to ship the SVT Vac Box including the HPS target mechanism. The downside is that this would stop SVT full system checkout at SLAC unless provisions are taken to support the cables, cooling tubes, etc. needed for testing.  Stepan mentioned another option, which he will explore: make a new, simple target mechanism that can be installed in the PS vac chamber. We'll compare these options next week, when we also know better the SVT schedule.

3. Stepan has already taken care to find Finding shifters for the days we had cancelled in order to accommodate what we had hoped would be SVT installation, Dec. 5-12, does not look like a serious problem. Stepan must find a local to replace Daria; Takashi must find a replacement for Omar, who is likely needed at SLAC for SVT preparations in that time frame. We will plan to run shifts during that time.  should take a decision soon on running shifts during this period.

4. Stepan reported that beam will be off on Dec. 22 at 6-7AM. If we could be pumped down by late on the 19th, we could have almost 7 shifts to get data with the full HPS.
