- Open a Terminal window on the Linux Machine. In the upper left hand corner pull down menu, select System Tools → Terminal
- In the terminal window, type
ssh -Y xspress3@192.168.43.7
- At the password prompt, type
x5pr3553
- Once logged into the server, type the following command:
screen
xspress3-ioc.sh
- To exit the screen shell session, type "Ctrl+a" and then "Ctrl+d", that is, press .
- WARNING: pressing Ctrl, a, and d buttons all together does NOT work and will STOP the xspress3 IOC!!
Type
logout
- Close the terminal window

At this point, you should be able to run either the web Ge program inside webXAS, or run xmapGUI, and see spectra. If that does not work, close all Firefox windows or xmapGUI application windows, restart ICS, following the instructions to Restart ICS and reopen the application.
