New Cameras

New cameras are in a plastic bin in the B244 back room.

Procedure

Example: Replacing IPOTR1, IPOTR2, and DSOTR

Occasionally, cameras can get burned by lasers. See image on the right for an example of how cameras look after they are burned and need to be replaced.

Follow these steps to replace the camera:

  1. Before removing the old cameras, align Align HeNe to beam marks on FrontView, IPOTR1, IPOTR2, and DSOTR.
    1. This can be done with IP area vented or under vacuum. Note that you will have to realign HeNe going from vacuum to vented and vice-versa.
  2. Replace burned cameras with new cameras.
    1. IPOTR1/2 are Manta G-095B cameras. They can be replaced with Mako or Manta G-125B cameras. If Mako, you might need to adjust how the camera is mounted.
    2. Label cameras and note new serial numbers in the eLog.
    3. If possible, remove the lens without adjusting the focus. Remount the camera and reattach the lens.
    4. After replacing the camera, reboot to connect. If the camera does not connect, an IOC reboot might be necessary. Rebooting the IOC should connect the new camera.
  3. Verify alignment and focus.
    1. The HeNe should be in the center of the camera image.
    2. The “mark” position on the OTR foils should be clear and in focus. You may need to use a flashlight for illumination.

Reset Reboot Count

After the camera has been replaced, reset the reboot count to 0:

[fphysics@facet-srv01 ~/shperez ]$ caput CAMR:LI20:102:REBOOTCOUNT 0

Also double check that the serial number has updated:

[fphysics@facet-srv01 ~/shperez ]$ caget CAMR:LI20:102:SerialNumber_RBV

CAMR:LI20:102:SerialNumber_RBV 50-0503525584
