On Sept 1, 1939 Germany (population 80M) invaded Poland (population 35M), Britain and France, standing by their guarantee of Poland's border, declared war on Germany on September 3, 1939. On Sept 17, 1939 the USSR (population 170.5M) also invaded Poland (population 35M). Poland fell on October 6, 1939.
On 24 February 2022 Russia (population 144M) invaded Ukraine (population 41.6M). So far, the Ukrainians have not given in. No other country (e.g. Belarus, US, NATO) has joined in.
