• the clearreadout timing system command causes the timing system buffers in the KCU to reset
• software is obligated to do blowoff for an appropriate time to reset "detector" buffers (batching-event-builder and before)
• there are similarly driver buffers (after the batching-event-builder) that need to be cleared and other software is responsible (this may be happening when we close an executable and the driver throws data into the vacuum, the driver puts the descriptors back on the freelist, which will take some time)

Note that batching event builder also has a timeout which can also drain the buffers (if it's zero, the timeout is disabled)
