   The future of Computing in High Energy Physics applications depends both on Network and Grid Infrastructure.  Some of the Some  South Asian countries such as India and Pakistan are making  progress in this direction , but for example by building grid clusters. To facilitate the use of these resources they will have to overcome the issues of internet/network facilities if they are facilities  to become a player in global Computing in HEP experiments. In this paper we aim to classify the connectivity for academic and research institutions of these regionsSouth Asia.  The quantitative measurements are carried out using the PingER methodology; a lightweight approach using the ICMP ping facility. The PingER project has been measuring the Internet Performance for the last decade. It now covers over 700 hosts in over 130 countries that contains over 99% of the world's Internet connected population, so it is well positioned to characterize the world's connectivity. We will present the current state  of NERNs National Resarch and Educational Networks (NRENs) and Grid  infrastructure in South Asian countries and point out what the problem areas are. We provide comparisons between South Asia and other world regions. We will also show that there is a strong correlation between the Network performance and various Human Development indices.   We will also draw a comparison between South Asia and other world regions.
