Email from Duncan Martin of TENET, 8/25/09. TENET purchased a dark fibre link between the SEACOM landing Station at Mtunzini and the Durban Institute of Technology (DUT), which is a TENET node. The dark fibre link, which was purchased from Dark Fibre Africa, essentially extends the SEACOM circuit for 160 kms to DUT. It has been operational for the past month. We expect to be delivering SEACOM bandwidth in limited quantities through the DUT gateway (newly dubbed "Sharkhead") and the Neotel MPLS cloud to our member campuses within a few weeks. I announced this to our members today. As Steve Song pointed out, delivery at gigabit speeds will have to wait for the SANReN national backbone.
